Das Kreuzfahrt Terminal von George Town. Hier gibt es nach dem Ausschiffen auch die Möglichkeit ein Taxi oder Veranstalter für Touren zu buchen. Beim einschiffen kann man sich noch in den zahlreichen Shops ein Andenken mitnehmen. Personal war super freundlich.

The iconic island once known widely as the Pearls of the Orient is bustling with different kinds of activities all year round. Due to the influenced of the majority Chinese community, the island now looks like a second Hong Kong. Many might not remember that Penang was once a free port in the sixties, but was revoked by the then Federal government somewhere in 1967 and no longer enjoys the benefit of a free port status.

The pier here in Penang is a gateway entry for many cruise liners as part of their package itinerary. The port might not be as busy as many other ports, but still, it got its function to play, is now a bustling gateway for tourists arriving by sea to enjoy the wonders of the island.

Located right in the heart of the city, George Town, it offers easy access to the city's cultural attractions, and many tourist hot spots catering to the likes of the vibrant markets, and delicious street food. With its strategic location and stunning views, it's a popular stop for cruise ships exploring Southeast Asia.

This little pier has through the years encountered many changes and now is no strangers to gigantic ocean cruise liners plying through and stopping by this simple and elegant entry point.

Pier is easy to navigate with some market stalls selling clothes and souvenirs. However as you exit there are lots of taxi drivers and tour company agents trying to sell you tours. The only possible action is head down and keep walking. Penang is a rather smelly place to walk around and suffers from too many cars and poor town planning. Pedestrians and cars seem to share the same space very dangerously particularly with silent but deadly electric cars. If you are on a cruise ship my advice is stay on board or take a ship's tour.

Pier is old and not upgraded.
Surrounding area house plenty of food centre and nice cafe, suggest to walk around instead of taking the taxi. Refer to photo.

There is these two places that recommend, within short walking distance. "Norm micro roastery" and "Ali nasi lemask".

The moment u are greeted by magnificent structures both historical and modern alike. The huge pier is surrounded by beautiful structures and a jaw dropping scenery. One criticism is the wear and tear of the infrastructure itself that houses the cruises.

Penang Cruise Terminal. Is a newly build just across the old port. Equiped with elevators and escalators. Terminal has a fast wifi connection and seating areas. Money changer, Convinience store and Souvenir Shops as well. There is also a park where you can walk and relax jist right outside the terminal.

Easy to get taxi here , a lot of taxi uncles will wait outside for you (sometimes it’s quite annoying). This place is very near to some of the Penang’s attraction points, but for sure the facilities here need to be improved.

The ferry is free. Google penang ferry for times. You can get a bus from Chulia street for like 1 ringgit… handy if you have a bag. Journey time from penang to butterworth is 8 minutes
