I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel. I have read reviews stated how bad it was and I had second thought. I went there without expectations and left after two nights filled with happiness and satisfaction. The hotel gave a hip vibe with peranakan and British colonial vibe. The reception staff were friendly and warm. We were able to check in before the stipulated check in timing. The room was amazing. I couldn't find a speck of dust. It has the basic amenities of towels, shower gel, complimentary mineral water and fridge. Bed is comfy and if you do not wish to boil water there is a water dispenser outside the room for you to collect. Spacious toilet and room for three of us. We are stoked how underrated this hotel is. No doubt the surrounding of the hotel is under going some construction, the location of the hotel allows you to walk to the malls city square and komtar easily with a shortcut of stairways. Able to reach checkpoint easily. Its a gem among the neighbourhood. You get to feel the warmth and genuine hospitality of the staff. Highly recommended. Will return again.

Fuss free 1 night stay - we got a family room with a connecting door. Rooms and bathrooms were generally clean, however there were flies in one of the bathrooms & feedback given to the Front Desk was acknowledged with thanks. Bedlinen were clean & fresh, however some of the towels were a little old. Overall we had a good night's rest & the close proximity to the JB CIQ is a plus.

Booked for 2 nights. The room is very basic. Bed sheet is a little old and soiled. It is actually ok if you are not very fussy.There is a mini fridge in the room which is not cold at all, which is a little disappointing. The TV has no signal even after seeking some assistance. The location is good. It is on Jalan Trus, which is a stone throw to many places - City Square, Komtar, nice eatery etc.Good place to stay if one is not fussy about the basic amenities.

Pros: nice retro lobby, clean and feels new, basics like kettle , tea and coffee

Cons:
Checkin and was quoted rm140 for basement room without window
Rm160 for level 1(upper level from ground) with window (and additional rm10 for tax). Room is small size good for 1 night

Later I found out that that the window is inward facing , size is about one arms length. Feel like got cheated

Want to park at hotel? That’s additional rm20

Noise… one of the noisiest hotel I have stayed at. Feels like you can hear everyone talking in the hallway

Nothing much choices around the hotel though is a walkable distance to city square

Honestly for $50 a night for a 3-Star Hotel for a slightly bigger room with up to date decor, it's not bad. I don't understand why sinkies expect 5 star service for a 3 star hotel.

Apart from the outdated toilet deco, the room is still comfortable and well-maintained.

Downside is the poor soundproofing, you can hear people walking along the corridors and the manpower, I requested for a make up service at 10am, when I came back at 3pm, it was not ready but I understand due to the hotel being fully booked.

Next to the hotel is a small mini kiosk (takeout) where they serve light breakfast and lunch such as Maggie Goreng, Nasi Goreng, light snacks, hot and cold beverages. An Iced Milk Tea in a bag for 3 Ringgit paired with a 3-4 ringgit maggie goreng? What a deal. Do support that mini kiosk next to the hotel.

Will consider staying again for a budget getaway.

Had a wonderful 2-night stay at Hotel CIQ, Jalan Terus. The location is excellent—right in the heart of Johor Bahru, making it easy to explore the town. The hotel facilities and in-room amenities were clean, simple, and just right. A solid choice for a comfortable and convenient stay in JB!

My short trip to Johor Bahru for work became easier when staying at this hotel. The interior decoration is clean and beautiful. The breezing coil aircond, clean sheets, fluffy pillows and the spacious bathroom really give the satisfaction of relaxing. Highly recommended.
