As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member, I was delighted to be upgraded to a Deluxe Suite. The room is lovely, spacious, and exudes a sense of modern luxury. Since the hotel is new, everything feels fresh, stylish, and inviting — I honestly didn’t feel like leaving the room.||However, I was surprised that the bed linen wasn’t as soft and silky as I’ve come to expect from Marriott properties; the texture felt somewhat rough. The shower area also has a minor design flaw, as the floor tends to flood rather quickly. ||I had also expected some light food to be served during happy hours, but learned that only drinks were available. Hopefully, as the hotel grows in popularity, it can consider expanding its happy hour offerings. ||On the bright side, I really enjoyed the swimming pool and the spacious pavilion area — both perfect for relaxation. The gym is well-equipped and modern too. ||Most importantly, the staff deserve special mention, especially Nicholas and Shashi who assisted with my checking in. While waiting for the room to be ready, we were invited to wait at the club lounge. All staff are warm, professional, and genuinely eager to provide excellent service. I noticed they are proactive in seeking guest feedback, which is commendable.||Overall, while there are a few minor shortcomings, the attentive service and luxurious comfort more than make up for them. A very pleasant stay that shows great promise for an even better experience as the hotel continues to fine-tune its details.

Located in an up and coming neighborhood, very proximal to the border with Singapore in Johor Bahru and only a few blocks from the more historic cultural hub of the city, Sheraton JB is a great choice for your accommodations. The continental breakfast had a wide array of options, the club lounge was very luxury with a great cocktail hour selection, and the in house restaurant was delicious - offering many different types of plates. There’s a buffet offered on Fridays and Saturdays that presents well and contains several choices to satiate even the pickiest of eaters.
The room was beautiful and comfortable with a lot of light, huge windows, good storage, and the bathroom offered a soaking tub and spacious shower. Kudos to whoever designed the rooms and decided the furniture and art - they did very well.
The laundry service at the hotel was very affordable and timely. They took great care of my clothes.
The gym and pool amenities at the hotel were good. The gym offered a lot of cardio machines, a free weight section, cables, bosu balls, and a few machines. The pool was beautiful with ample chairs that are well padded and a beautiful ambiance. There’s a lot of outdoor seating for lounging on the deck near the pool as well and there was a kids section to the pool which both offers fun for kids, and peace by separation for adult.
The staff was just incredible during my stay here. The hotel only opened three weeks ago so there are some systems working out kinks. If you feel something was unsatisfactory and you address it with the staff it will be fixed immediately. I don’t know what the hiring process is, but the staff was so kind and helpful, it really makes me sad to leave this hotel behind because it was such a positive aspect of my time in Johor Bahru. I am thankful for my floor manager for keeping my room very clean, the wait staff for keeping me caffeinated every morning, and the hotel management for adjusting to my fluctuating scheduling needs.
I highly recommend that you stay at this location during your next trip to Johor Bahru.

Deeply Disappointing Stay at a “5-Star” Sheraton (Johor Bahru)
I was really looking forward to trying this newly launched 5-star hotel in JB, but the experience from check-in to checkout was riddled with basic service failures.
Check-in & Luggage (the biggest letdown):
Official check-in is 3:00 PM. We arrived on time, but were told the room wasn’t ready and to wait ~30 minutes or more.
We explained we had activities soon and asked for just one room to store our luggage—staff said no rooms were ready. They promised to message when ready and send our luggage up.
The “room ready” message only came around ~4:40 PM. We were already out for dinner/activities by then.
We returned around 11:20 PM, collected the keys, and confirmed with the counter that our luggage was already in the room. It wasn’t.
We called reception; after another ~20 minutes, at past midnight, our luggage finally arrived.
This entire sequence was unacceptable for any hotel—let alone a Sheraton. Being told the luggage was already in the room when it wasn’t is especially frustrating.
Breakfast:
For a brand positioning itself as 5-star, the breakfast was average at best—closer to a decent 4-star selection than a premium spread. Variety and execution didn’t meet expectations.
Why this matters for a new launch:
If the hotel doesn’t fix these issues and provide a clear explanation to early guests who took a chance on a newly launched property, many of us will simply return to cheaper, proven options rather than pay a higher price for poor service.
Bottom line:
A new 5-star hotel should work extra hard to impress and build its reputation. This stay did the opposite. I had hoped this would become my new go-to in JB, but after this experience—not at all.

Price - For 4pax, I redeemed 23,000 points for an entry-level Deluxe Room + 950MYR++ for a Club Access King booked directly on their website. It is one of the most expensive hotels I've paid for in JB and despite alarming reviews online and real-life warning from a friend, I was still hopeful that it will somehow be of decent value.||||Check in took a while as the staff didn't seem super well trained in the process, and info about breakfast and the Sheraton Club was also verbally communicated. But that said, we were very grateful to be given our rooms at 9:30am so that extra gesture was very appreciated.||||Rooms - We had non-connecting but side by side room, 1512 + 1514. They were essentially replicates of each other save for the bedding configuration. The rooms were really spacious at 45SqM each and brand new fittings were spotless.||||Sheraton Club - I actually quite liked the space as it was still very new and the modern design made it a very cosy chillaxing spot during my stay. I did feel the space could have accommodated more tables as there were some random empty spaces which were under-utilised.||||Evening Cocktails from 5:30pm-7:30pm was a mess.||||The food offerings were basic carbs, chee cheong fun, buns, and a live murtabak station which was quickly overwhelmed by the hungry crowd. But at least they had cheeses, cold cuts, salads to low carb nosh which was appreciated. But these too ran out quickly, with no refill in sight for a very long time.In terms of service, the team seemed unprepared for the crowd despite it being their 2nd weekend of opening. Service felt hurried and severely lacking attention for a 5-star property, especially when guests who walked in 30mins after the start of the session to find no seats available and were left standing around on their own. Not a pretty sight!||||There was also no self-serve alcohol station available, whoever wanted alcohol had to grab staff to ask what's available before knowing there is only 1x red and 1x white available and both were honestly very crappy wines. I had one glass before I decided it was enough. BOO.||||The lacklustre alcohol offering was so bad it was unbelievable. If they want to throttle the quantity / quality of the drinks, they need to throttle the price as well to be at most half of what I paid.||||Save your money to stay elsewhere at half the price until this property gears up to be enough for its brand standard.

The hotel is conveniently located near CIQ, with an upcoming mall just below, making it an ideal spot for both business and leisure travelers. Being newly opened, the property feels fresh and modern, with spacious rooms and well-maintained amenities.||However, the view is rather limited due to its central Johor location—mostly overlooking residential areas and some ongoing construction.||The price is reasonable for a 5-star hotel. Service-wise, the staff performance is average, with no elite member recognition or room upgrades offered during our stay. Food options are somewhat limited. One unusual aspect is that room cleaning is done only upon request(this is according to their guest services)which is not typical for a Marriott property. Usually, for stays of more than one night, housekeeping automatically services the room unless otherwise requested .||Overall, it’s a comfortable stay with good facilities, but service and dining could be improved to match the standards expected of a Marriott hotel.

I was very impressed with the overall service during our stay, and its close proximity to Mid Valley Southkey Mall is definitely a big plus.A special shoutout to the executive lounge team, who were exceptionally friendly, attentive and quick to respond to our needs. I would especially like to commend the manager on duty at the executive lounge on Sunday morning, 19 October (unfortunately I did not catch his name). My boy had a nosebleed and accidentally soiled the pillow, blanket and mattress cover. When we informed him, he immediately checked on my boy first and reassured us that the mess was not a concern at all. His genuine care touched my heart. He also kindly offered to inform housekeeping on our behalf.When we returned from lunch, we were pleasantly surprised to find our room completely refreshed—everything neatly arranged with all linens changed. This level of attentiveness truly exceeded our expectations.During breakfast, another staff member also came over to ask how our stay was going. I really appreciate how the team consistently checks in on their guests, making us feel well cared for.|Although there were some minor hiccups with our luggage during check-in, the issue was promptly rectified. A senior staff member personally apologised on behalf of a new junior staff, and it was evident he was looking out for his team and guiding them well.With continuous training and upkeep, I believe Sheraton will continue to shine even more brightly with its impeccable, heartfelt service. Thank you for making our stay so memorable!

2025.10/1にオープンしたばかりの新しいホテルでとにかくきれいでした。スタッフの対応もフロントでもレストランでも気になることは一つもなくとてもよかったです
ただ、初日から部屋のBodyソープはすっからかんで、翌日夜19時にホテルに戻っても部屋の清掃は終わっておらず、2人で掃除してるから間に合わないんだと清掃員の方がいってました。この辺のオペレーションの改善は必要かと思います。
朝ごはんのビュッフェは、そこまで品数は多くないけど、どれもきれいに陳列されておりおいしかった。食事の札がたってないものも多く、なんの料理なのかわからないものもあった。各国の料理はあったけど日本食はなかった。

Stayed at Sheraton for 4 nights and love the bed so much. We have a twin room for 3 pax and the twin bed can easily fit two adults. Even with tossing and turning, the bed does not shake and disturb the other person. Bed is hard bed and is just nice for us.
The check in is fast and swift. We check in at 4pm and there is not queue at all. Within 15 mins, we are done and up to our room.
The surrounding smell very new with woody smells from the carpentry. The towels, linen are all new and do not feel moldy.
The air con is really very very cold. Even when the fan speed is low, it is still very strong. We off the air con to sleep at night and still feel cooling to sleep through.
The lounge is good as well. Not very crowded and the variety of the food is reasonable for us. Some items are very delicious. From 530pm to 730pm, there is beer and wine with dessert and small bites.
Breakfast, there is nasi lemak and many others. Due to our membership status, we are given a kueh and fruits welcome platter as well.
There is a coffee making machine in room as well.
Location is just 5 minutes ride from CIQ.
Only dislike is the sound proofing is kind of weak. Somehow I heard loud slamming of door nearby which woke me up at night.
