2 star review doesn’t mean it’s bad, I’m just be fair to maintain the same evaluation standard across all the places I reviewed before. If I would to start comment from positive to negative, I would start with friendliness of the ladyboss. She is kind and patience, nice to speak with and treat us well. Then the environment is actually quite nice, very close to the sea basically just divided by the stone wave barrier and it’s very windy but without fishy sea breeze smell. The entire place is a typical kampung family business feels, immediately brought me back to my childhood memories in grandparents home. Food was just ordinary and a little under par. From the 3 dishes I had, the vege is tasty; fried squid is not crunchy type; fried smelt fish is ordinary. But overall the price is on the high end in my opinion. (I’ve been regularly eating around in tanjung sepat and for this exact same menu I ordered it’s normally 10-30% cheaper at other restaurants). When you’re thinking the environment justified the higher price, I would now share about the last but important comment: too much flies. There are just too much flies (not the small type, all are big big ones) when your food is served and basically we had to dine single handed because another hand need to constantly move around to chase off the flies. It seems normal for the local people and the staffs here, they told if you seat inside under the ceiling fan the flies will not come because they scare the ceiling fan…..

After being rudely shoo-ed away from the nearby restaurant namely Ang Mo for bringing along our lovely pet Maltese, we ended in this super pet friendly Restaurant Hai Keng. The warm, friendly and welcoming environment were enough to make one come back again, let alone the food and services. The lady boss together with her family were real pet lovers, with a handsome poodle and cute feline with whom we (including our Maltese) enjoyed a short company. The food came in quite a big portion and were up to our expectation.
Also bought a bottle of chilled toddy to bring home. Hope to visit this wonderful pet friendly restaurant again.

If you're visiting Tanjung Sepat, you can try to have your lunch here. Plenty of seafood for you to choose. Cooked food is acceptable, not too oily or salty. Slightly "cheaper" (just) than the other more popular next nearby restaurant. Seaview is not good and it's less windy here.

Surprisingly the place serve very good food. Most of ingredients not available due to holidays thus few dishes are not available, however the food is good! Good to have relaxing meal.

下午3点找吃，难的找到一间今天有营业，来到很多菜肴都没有，5 人来只点了2人分 ，自带茶 ，1瓶啤酒，1只椰花酒，福建面1人分，印度面1人分，（招聘菜）野花酒蒸大虾，还有很一道菜名很特别（三菇六婆菜），除了印度面的面有点硬，其他菜肴还不错，这里主要是做酒客的生意，如果有喝酒的吃货，别错过味道香浓的椰花酒。

this restaurant is not the usual seafood restaurant that is packed with tourist on weekend. a little out of the busy tourist street. not yur usual seafood fare. this is more like home cooked seafood... like an extension of the kitchen to guest. I've been to tanjung sepat a couple of time and Hai Keng offer something a little different from the other restaurant. during high tide, the view can b beautiful. the food is not exceptionally good but it's also not like the usual seafood restaurant. menu all in the captain/cook phone, so be prepared to order looking at her phone. issue i had is the frequent fly and insect crawling up. close early at 7pm, so come early to enjoy dinner with a breeze.
