Disappointing Experience with This Swimming Academy

My bf (24) & I (24) signed up for swimming classes at this academy after a recommendation from a friend, intending to overcome my fear of deep water and improve my swimming skills. My partner also enrolled to learn the butterfly stroke. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations, and I believe it’s important to share our observations for others considering this program.

Key Issues:
1. Lack of Transparency

During registration, I clearly communicated my goal to conquer deep water and learn water treading, emphasizing that I already possessed bubbling and breaststroke skills. However, during the first session, I was informed that the deep pool (2m) would only be accessible for the last 15 minutes of each class, shared with younger children as part of the SOP. This restriction made it difficult to focus on my primary objective.

2. Poor Communication Between Staff and Coach

Although I outlined my goals during registration, the coach seemed unaware of these details and unprepared for our session. There was no structured plan, and the activities we were assigned often did not align with our objectives. For instance, I was instructed to practice freestyle kicks, which contradicted the academy's stated policy that students must first demonstrate sufficient proficiency in bubbling and breaststroke to access deeper pools.

3. Safety Concerns

The indoor pool environment raised safety concerns. The water was warm, and the chlorine level seemed excessive. Within 10 minutes of entering the pool, I began coughing and tearing up due to the strong fumes. The combination of high chlorine and warm water created an uncomfortable and, at times, overwhelming environment, making it difficult to focus on learning.

4. No Free Trial or Assessment as Promoted Online

Despite promotions suggesting otherwise, we were not offered a free trial or preliminary assessment to determine if the program met our needs. This would have allowed us to evaluate the suitability of the classes before committing financially.

5. Unyielding Refund Policy

After attending less than 30 minutes of the first session, it became clear that the program was not suitable for us. We requested a partial refund for the remaining three classes, but this was denied. Instead, we were advised to find replacements for our spots within a short timeframe, which we were unable to do.

6. Lack of Professionalism

The coach lacked preparation and did not provide a clear progression plan for the four sessions. Instructions were vague, and teaching methods were ineffective in addressing specific needs. Additionally, management's response to our concerns was delayed and unhelpful, with no actionable solutions offered.

Outcome:
We were unable to continue with the classes and lost RM600. This experience was disappointing, particularly given the lack of flexibility, communication, and preparedness from the academy.

Despite multiple attempts to communicate our issues with management, there appeared to be no resolution. I hope this review encourages the academy to address these shortcomings so that future students do not face the same challenges.

We came here for a competition, but unfortunately, it was difficult to cheer for our kids as we were squeezed in among the other parents, only catching glimpses of them from the first floor corner. Despite this, I was impressed by the size of this outlet and the facilities it offers, especially compared to the one my kids usually attend in Kepong.

My son really like learn swimming here. The coaches and admins are very good and cooperative. And this place is the cheapest swimming class in this area. If someona give bad rating to this place i believe that person just a fussy parents that always force the children have a good grades 😅🤣
