The terminal has been upgraded since last time. Now its cleaner, more efficient service. Information board, touchscreen display for self service & service counter are open to ease customers. They introduce new card system for accurate pricing, while the native cash payment are still available to use, they are still no solution for change fare

unprofessional, unbothered and arrogant people operate busses in George Town Penang. They won't help you when you clearly need help and will make fun of you because you are a tourist and don't know the way to your hotel nor to the ferry. Not to mention how incredibly unfriendly Malays generally are towards tourists. Honestly, only Chinese Malaysians (and South Indians), have so far been generally and as a whole kind & friendly, which explains why they managed to make this city, George Town, reputable. But ethnic Malays are typically quite nonchalant. It was the Chinese Malays who showed me the correct bus, the ferries etc. Malays didn't even bother. And when they give direction, they gave me the wrong info, so I had to stand in the rain

Also, if you are going to ride the bus and don't have enough change, the bus driver won't even bother to give you back your cash and will also forget to stop at your destination. (This happened to me when I arrived. Which left a very bad impression)

So no, this leaves a bitter sweet taste in my mouth for Penang and generally Malaysia. I totally understand why tourists travel to Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines etc but not Malaysia. Which is a pity because their country is beautiful.
